A Day of See-Through-Blue, a Night to cast a Wish - Oct. 7, 2023

people wail at a wall

why not fatten your chances

under a universe of stars with

prayer as your lottery ticket?

so you pray and pray and pray

and wait for the call of your name

at least that’s how you dream it

except this morning you awaken

from a nightmare to a dismal rain

and think maybe its fate disguised

as luck that no one picks winners

even if there are any and we

get what we deserve with

a few surprises thrown in

and God has been deaf

since the beginning of time

and never learned

how to read lips
