I Like My Feet - Oct. 19, 2022

except for the wrinkled

elephant skin on the sole

and the big toe’s cabinet

knob on its knuckle

odd too the fat blue veins

that crisscross the surface

like confused creeks

with nowhere to drain

then there’s

that black gnarled nail

and the even scarier one

that’s missing

my heal is tough

and well-padded

a weathered guide

that directs the tour

of course they’ve all

been careless tripped

and sent me sprawling

bloodied other parts

but they also never failed

to lean down

and help me

get back up
