I see fear’s wrinkles thin lips of pettiness

a subtle loneliness stooping the posture

in the dark picture of me that stoops in the mirror


so sad only small shards of love

made it out of so many reflections


if I had only known earlier that the candle

sitting on the dresser waiting for me to light


was forgiveness
