Sunrise at the Cleaning Stone - June 10, 2024

a pair of doves share

a bath at the waterfall

 

nice to have body and clothes

cleaned in a single cycle

air-dried on a sunny wire

with reams of shared gossip

 

after my morning shower

I’ll do two loads of laundry

fold and put them away

then need a nap

 

they can also build a nest

in three afternoons

have two children

and move away in two months

 

before a single stick

has been propped up

in a new home for a couple

dreaming of kids

 

the blessing of simple

left to the trees

bushes  birds

 

and a morning sun

offering free labor

that the doves  especially

 

are keen to hire
