what’s the one gift

an amateur astronomer

would love to get?

 

a new telescope

with even more

bells and whistles

 

what about a poet?

well

what about a ream of paper?

 

it’s the acreage they need

to capture stars as they fall

corral thoughts as they roam

 

also, the perfect table

to dissect feelings and invite

the curious to gather round

 

although, there is a better place

for love to land than

on a piece of paper

 

in fact, it was between us

linking our fingers

during the handoff
