The one God made - Sept. 3, 2020

one eye gets punched

and loses its function

untouched the other tours

nature’s gallery of luscious art

my soft hand makes love with velvet

water a child’s face the matching appendage

tosses the world onto a rough quilt of scars

and throws out the rotten parts

two strong legs support me

if one fails it’s harder to stand

if both go where can I go?

this is me unpredictable undependable

bending or breaking with circumstance

the one God made though I’ve heard Him say

Find the secret passage I built for you

it’s the path that starts at your heart

and leads where you keep asking to go
