The Protest of Stretched Leather - April 7, 2023

Gary Hunter

the problem with parking lots

is cars

they’re too much silent metal

muted glass sleeping tires

if we still had horses

there’d be snorts and whinnies

hide shaking hoof stomping

tail swatting the strapping

of goods in saddlebags

the rider’s grunt with the leg kick

that protest of stretched leather

and then

when it’s needed most

the slow quiet ride home
