my skin prickles

when I step outside

that’s each hairlet

grabbing a faucet

the pores installed

each worn-smooth handle

turns easily to fill

each small basin

before long I glisten

the sun’s reflection

off a wet bog of skin

some areas will pond

even overflow

places I’ve long known

to have leaky valves

that need replacing
