A Bully, two Dummies and a Trickster - Oct. 15, 2024

Toronto’s glass and metal towers

prick the blue sky

Vancouver’s slick green parks

and flowered streets are a walk

through a painting

Banff  the town that sits on a saddle

of mountains is a perfect summer ride

the Rocky Mountaineer  a train that

moves mist  cuts through iced peaks

skirts lapis lakes and pine slopes

and then there’s my favorite moment

in Canada

one plain pigeon and three chickadees

snipping crust  pecking crumbs

a bully  two dummies and a trickster

on a sidewalk stage at a café

entertaining a crowd of just me
