A Chance to Meet Again - July 16, 2022

one thing that happens

more as we get older

we discard larger dreams

meet our backyards

and friends at barbeques

talk to our dog-children more

wake up later to be late

for many things

take walks at the speed

a child would

through familiar woods

with an eye peeled

trying to remember

the way to that clearing

the hidden spring

the sunny pond

knowing our friend

still sits on the rock

kicking his feet

waiting for us
