why is it that we don’t wink at strangers

or kiss our enemies or cheer like crazy

after losing the big game?

didn’t God launch us into this world

as pieces of Himself so why don’t we

recognize that in each other?

I admit that would spoil some excellent theater

but what is tempting is to yield to

my dramatic side and scream out this truth

to try and produce a screaming stampede

towards the theater exits

which admittedly

would be the least vanilla result

I would hope for
