Another Desert Painting - Jan. 26, 2025

Gary Hunter

pool-blue sky

spun cotton clouds

crown of mountains shifting

in shades of beige and brown

scrub   cactus   skittering things

dusty veil over life and death

billions upon billions of crystals

the endless beach of dry sand

coming from colder wetter lands

I fell for the long dry kiss

of the sun   a lizard’s wink

the palm trees’ open arms

the drop of nectar

on my skin from the

greedy beak of a

low flying hummingbird

the silent glistening

after a downpour
