Butt Kicked - Feb. 15, 2024

remember being told

sit down and be still

and finding it unbearable?

now   in the waiting room of a busy

restaurant   ever curse the long

wait when all the seats are taken?

and on the way to your table ever say

      we’d really love a booth

when wooden chairs don’t cut it anymore?

what about those long lines at

the pharmacy or Costco   ever think

would love something to sit on?

which is why late afternoons and evenings

it’s a pleasure for me to write

a poem   butt-stuffed into

the sofa’s cushion

and later into the armchair’s

bowl of ice cream on the belly

and watching the bad guy

get his you-know-what kicked
