Dark - Nov. 4, 2023

Gary Hunter

6 a.m.

gloom in the room

a dark dream forgotten details

dark outside newspaper delivered

dark kitchen before

a flip of a switch

dark roast in a dark cup

out the window

the paint spill of sunrise

strokes of green

the spread of red

orange and yellow

a bucket of blue

tossed skyward

with a sip of coffee

I swallow the darkness
