Faulty Thinking - Sept. 8, 2022

one thing that’s changed here

summer clouds visit more

mostly the gentle and pale-faced

that float like shattered glaciers

in a hot blue sea

overhead steppingstones

so easy to eye-jump

the darkly dressed ones

seem to sulk in the mountains

that surround this place

watch the withering

where death creeps

inside life’s shadows

deaf to our prayers

for rain even with rage

still

today feels

like a day of mercy

a tiny bit of grace

though I know

that’s faulty thinking

for what’s up there

out there

is lacking a heart
