I thought it was the

morning sun knifing golden

through some drowsy trees

nice try I thought

cold and still quite dark

a new moon had cleared

the eastern horizon

so it had some fun

why not it should

they all should

each one is an orbiting slave

to a bossy planet

chained to its gravity

swung around in an

endless boring loop

with no chance for freedom

so I say if one borrows

a little extra sunshine

one night as it rises

catches you off guard

and a bit confused

until you get the joke

show some appreciation

for the sense of humor

of a lonely old moon

sayYou got me!
