most noticed the detailed arranging

of flowers under mom’s picture

the lushness of the spray

on her casket  other feasts of

blossoms organized by her sons

before the service began

 

off to the side there was

a small bouquet of ferns

and in the middle

a pair of pink roses together 

petals touching

 

made me wish

I’d thought of that

gesture of love
