Gratitude Reissued - Jan. 19, 2023

it’s a much brighter sun

that rises now

finds cracks in clouds

prisms the rain

is it the years that awakened it?

each day having its shoulder

shaken a bit harder

whispering ever louder

wake up

until the day came

that I saw myself

reflected in the world

my preciousness tied into

its beauty and folly

noticed more love in colors

blessedness in silence

thankfulness in being alive

like I’d slowed down a movie

to enjoy each frame to its end

to savor the plot

watch it play out

never worrying about that

mysterious moment

waiting at the end that

no one sees coming

well not today anyway
