goldfish nip insects 

inhale palm berries 

suck fallen mangoes

graze gardens of algae

 

lilies cover the pond

pink and yellow blooms

breathless sight on hot days

 

hummingbirds nest

parents crisscross the yard

bellies of baby nectar

 

generations of lizards

run the concrete

feed in shadows

 

as mayor of this little settlement

with minimal feedback

and few complaints

I can only surmise

 

I run a happy town!
