when those hummingbirds

dogfight across my backyard

in close pursuit over the purple

lily blooms in the pond

cut in front of the waterfall

veer around the statue of Krishna

through the shade of the gazebo

then up and over the mango tree

loaded with spring blossoms

 

beauty stumbles on the rift

holding its breath above the fissure

in serenity

 

then breathes it

back together
