don’t let love get lost

in a jungle of poetry

in the eloquent training

and craft of wording

in the years of painting

around the subject

we like to blend beauty

with unexpected shadows

some mascara for darkness

thinking that too bright is

too apparent and sweet

too boring

but isn’t love transcendental?

it arrives in a lovely light

with a feeling so childlike

that stick figures with

first grade words

would capture it

prick the heart

and

tremble a tear
