a poop picker-upper

when I walk the dogs,

not just mine, but every

irresponsible owners’ mutts

that stroll my street

though there’s one neighbor

whose yard I won’t clean up

an old bully – who verbally

excels in both sarcastic

and subtly cruelty

who chose me as a target

years ago, to practice on

I must be like the baby

elephant bitten by a mouse

who grew up stomping on

every tiny shadow that got

too close, thinking

I’ll get you one of these times

I really am an excellent neighbor
