inside out

we are tin men and glass women

one dents, the other chips

or maybe it’s the

other way around

though either can break

open with enough pressure

revealing the soft core

the naked essence

seems like every life I know

has been there

armor fallen away

exposed to the world

that’s how it started for me,

forced myself to investigate

look deeply into the mirror

and with love’s help

accepted what I was

from the inside, out
