if there’s a science in how to meet and get

along there’d be an app for that by now

 

I believe in a chance meeting at a river  a found boat

two oars and an agreement to jump in and go

 

fixing leaks  rudder issues and bailing water

will require all hands on deck

 

and it’s probably critical every morning

to brew some hot tea of possibility

 

regardless of the weather  touch oars for

good luck and head out on the river early

 

take time for unplanned escapades on side

channels and challenging backwaters

 

they force most pairs to lean in closer 

laugh  touch  even turn young and daring 

 

enough to stand up  take a deep breath

and leap into the waters of each other
