words live as isolated

as those who rescue them

 

find them company

or a nice home in a lyric

phrase or sentence

 

writers work disconnected from their kind

 

and after a long day of finding

companionship for words

they shut off the lights

close the office door

 

and head into the world

seeking their own salvation
