Most Poets are Lazy - June 24, 2024

their fat feet

stay tucked under desks

or lounge on coffee tables

 

their posture  awful

curled over a computer

or slunk into a sofa

 

they rarely go to the gym 

work out or take hikes

unless it’s with their minds

 

preferring to climb mountains of ideas

swim oceans of quizzical thought

go deep into caves for insight

 

those muscles become Olympic

with the goal of bringing back

at least a bronze for empathy

 

to wear on their lyrical hearts
