Oasis - July 9, 2025

I planted that tree in front of

my house for you and me

an umbrella of branches

spreading wide, to cool

harsh thoughts and hot skin

that arrive out of the sun

I should have built a

drinkable spring under it

that spills into a pool

ringed by flat boulders

hire some birds that would

sing whatever you asked

as you sit and rest your eyes

someday it would be my great

pleasure, to build this oasis

a place I hope many shoes

would find silence
