Oats in a Bucket - March 22, 2025

I’m sure it’s their restaurant -

birds pecking at bird seed

and dogs wolfing down dogfood

is like a favorite cafe

they eat for purpose

we, heavily for pleasure

horses will gulp down

oats in a bucket

while we play souz chef

to alter the nutritious grain

with raisins and nuts

brown sugar and milk

into a calorie-riddled dessert

I’m sure most of us would frown

at eating a peasant’s

third world breakfast

or at least until a hunger

we’ve never known

talked some sense into us
