Orchestra of Fear - Sept. 7, 2021

splinters of lightning

timpani drums backed by

wind instruments in crescendo

when you write a poem every day

ominous observations like this

form a promising beginning

the tension that causes trees

to sway and leaves to turn away

is the perfect orchestra of fear

in this morning’s case a monster rainstorm

the only trouble might be

if the conductor alters his approach

or shifts to a kinder melody

then good luck coming up

with a special rejoinder to

satisfy all the thirsty readers

disappointed that this poem

didn’t turn illegible

and get washed away
