Painters of Worlds (to my favorite poets) Nov. 10, 2021

thank you

for paramedics and peas

the lives of beds

crows in sycamores

the scent of baby’s hair

scraps of night in moonlight

plum leaves and October winds

thank you for catching

all I missed seeing

for sparkling in the dim 9-6

for appetizers during the hungry 6-7

for entertaining the weary 7-11

thank you for the thousand vacations

the balloon rides and deep dives

the sudden leaps and hidden paths

the unfolding’s the well-packaged

the raw and rare and unpolished

thanks for the free tickets

to vertical worlds of wonder

flipping the turnstile of a heart

to find the secret door

to a soul
