I know the sky

is not really blue

the sun and moon

neither rise or fall

and stars certainly don’t wink


so to make life

less scientific

less circular

and repetitive

less appearing alive

but already dead


we have poetry to launch

from this hot dusty earth


it is great fireworks

a show anyone can enjoy


keep watching

and you’ll find a favorite


one that burns brighter

than all the rest


one you'll follow closely
