Rust Does the Rest - Nov. 16, 2024

“keep your spirits up”

the old saying goes

a trite but true phrase

for the foot that pushes

the pedal on the vehicle

and propels you forward

accelerates and slows down

gets you somewhere fast

or drives like an old lady

respect it like you would

spark plugs keep it clean

ready to fire

the danger of old age

is no longer passing anything

but always being passed

and if parked too long

the engine won’t turn over

refusing to start

and in the sneakiest of ways

nibbling at the edges

of your life

rust does the rest
