Sad for other Reasons - Sept. 30, 2020

like doll plastic the face shines eyes sealed

the body posture is not sleep

fully clothed it lies at attention

in the perfect receptacle

for unmotivated discharge

so many ways to read death

no translation strikes me

easy now stay proper

tip and pour emotions slowly

drizzle feelings for someone not there

certainly not the way

we emptied ourselves into each other

when our two breaths mingled

and neither wanted to exhale

hanging over the casket I think

of my last dog that died

and I turn sad

for other reasons
