every story is told

in the moments it happens

 

then retold with a subtle change

here, a side plot there

an ending more colorful

or dazzling than the original

 

we do that don’t we

in a hundred telling’s

dress up the tale

as the drama grows

 

what starts as a sparrow

becomes a scarlet macaw

 

maybe you can only trust

a plain bird to tell the truth

 

but then who knows

maybe what it wanted

all along

 

was to wear

some beautiful feathers
