Scoping for a Dimpled Pope - Dec. 9, 2020

this non-believer hopes next time

for a jolly pope with dimples

to die for wise storybook skin

a smile that lights a room

hair like a mountain’s snow collar

and of course an engulfing hug

performed with robes unbuttoned

if the conclave of shadows

hiding in St. Peter's Square

ever consult their sunnier side

or ask the mottled hearts of believers

I bet they too would decide for

the bright eyes of a big heart

unfiltered love

leans in closest to everyone

even I am attracted to that
