you’ve made it clear
that poetry is easier on the eyes
with the dribble of sweet juice
down the chin
interpretation is smoother
rhythm more likeable
the poet given more stars
a much higher rating
than when it’s served
cold and by itself
where words must do
all the digging and support
the tunnel before breaking
into that sweet human space
of a smile
