our Sunday tradition

grilled cheese and tomato soup

and stories with ingredients

from around the world


narratives nicely plated

and served warmly

on the TV above

the slow-burning fire

nourishing like tales around

a campfire blowing on a bowl

of chili still bubbling on the grill

a detour from our lives

to sit and eat quietly


the sigh and sustenance needed

at the end of the week


a dinner more for the soul
