Elyse heads to the gym

her workout mostly

saddle-up conversation

today she meets a new stud-finder

ripped and 6 foot 6 from England

then she runs the rounds through

all her friends ending with a grim and

crooked old man that straightens

and smiles as they talk

by the time she leaves me

the weights seem lighter

thin-looking in a zippered sweatshirt

and beany wool hat she floats

between the bulky machines

and the hot sweaty gym rats

as if she belongs there

a specimen to admire

if only a T-shirt

could fit a heart
