live in a house a long time

and it becomes as comfortable

as a pair of jeans


slightly worn at the knees

pockets molded to your collections

a faded blue only time can create


which is why it’s hard to move

from a home to a house

so much twisting and turning

to your bending and stretching

an uncomfortable stiffness at first


until it softens enough

for you to slip in and out
