That's All I Got - Jan. 28, 2025

shy little brown bird

constant flick of feathers

below shattered clouds

the morning after rain

I see your temptation

from your perch on the fence

leaning and looking around

please   come and drink

from my waterfall   nothing

around here like it

cool   sweet   filtered

a safe rock to land on

and that’s it for this gray day

a single wish for a skittish bird

who sipped twice

and ran to the sky

as my attention shifts

to a bush hanging limp

in the wet dripping light

and feel my sadness
