The Good Old Days for Words - June 4, 2025

before we strung molecules

into circuits onto motherboards

we used India ink and parchment

today’s pen and paper

 

simple analog communication

the good old days for words

when one would take time

to masticate and digest them

 

writing once matched

our slowly plodding past

and precursed the instantly

tapped-out stories of today

 

like walking and talking,

books strolled along with us

took their time to tell a story

they spoke and we listened

 

poetry had this journey as well

except it whispered

 

and occasionally

we’d fall in love
