a different playing field
calls us as we age
the horizontal
going to be bed early
sleeping in taking naps
sofa-slouching
those nose-to-the-wind
pursuits of younger days
have banana-spined
into more carpet gazing
sidewalk critiquing
shoe scrutiny
I can tell you
what part of the rug
needs cleaning
before I discover
the garage light bulb
that’s burned out
while the horizon
is now at the
end of the pool
clouds are not
necessarily credited
for moments
of darkness
