The Lonely Stones - Aug. 24, 2022

no rocks or boulders

have ever married

had kids and a family

even the handsomest ones

simply wear with age

to become lonely stones

solitary pebbles

then smaller even smaller

till a breeze lifts them

and rain engulfs them

sweeps them away

for mud

is just wet dust

collected and laid to rest

the fitful dream of an eon or two

with a twist of an ending -

the reunion of countless old friends

awakening as a mountain

once again
