on those uncommonly

windless and motionless days

with birdless skies

dogless streets

peopleless mornings

or carless afternoons

 

silence relaxes pricked ears 

slows searching eyes 

blocks the need to touch

or be defined by the nose

it’s a respite for the breath

mouth  the always billowing lungs  

 

and to the stillness of thought

on most Sunday mornings

the shocking sound of nothing
