The Skinny on Pity - Nov. 12, 2023

I’ve noticed empathy is like water

its vapor coalesces in clouds

which release and soak everything

that in time vanish without a trace

it can start as a steamy sigh

then turn as solid as a flood of tears

and threaten to drown a soul

now in need of its own

fast-acting sympathy

someone to pull the plug

maybe a little good news

a break in the clouds

the peek of a morning sun
