The Unintended Pun - Aug. 12, 2025

most men of my age, go

when they don’t need to,

never sure if they can hold it

to reach known places of relief

and when traveling afar, must

learn new signage and language

and keep a sharp eye out

for those rooms of men

one time outside the Taj Mahal

the urge was so great I found

a hidden bush on the side

of the marble wonder

mid-pee, one of the gardeners

came around the corner, waving

his stick broom and yelling

in broken English

twenty-five rupees, twenty-five rupees!

I walked away, unbending to his

demand and entered the great hall

after forfeiting those rupees to a kid

to watch my shoes, and then it hit me

twenty-five rupees for a pee?

I should have paid the guy - the

unintended pun still pays residuals
