Throw That Key Away - April 29, 2025

sure, one may be old

and failing in body, mind and

soul but your spirit remains

forever a wild thing

and in those moments

when it sprints around the

roadblocks of elderhood

and runs up to your eyes

we notice you spurn

social caution, forget

your manners and spill

eagerly into the moment

if we think something’s

wrong with you or it’s

some new medication

you’re on, forgive us

and thank you

for we all forget

there is a life we

lock away, so different

from the one the world sees
