To Weather Sadness - July 26, 2021

sorrow is when a great loss pours over you

and floods your heart killing everything in it

but all weather turns and emptied clouds break apart

some birds start singing and things begin to dry out

at first you open the door and step outside for the zest

in the air wave at neighbors maybe pet a dog

for the first time in long awhile

and if you lift your eyes to the horizon

and if there’s a rainbow

you’ll know you’re ready

to be seeded

with color

once again
