what is daily life
but a photo album
mental pictures snapped
and pasted onto the page
of a memory
today’s white dusted peaks
tower behind a road runner
caught in full sprint
and me turning up my collar
into a windblown hustle
this shot perhaps forgettable
but for the subdued look
in my eyes
thinking of an old friend
I saw yesterday
that closeup
of the wet eyes
of his honesty
scalloped by mountains
totally out of focus
