When Moths take Flight - March 2, 2023

Don’t moths only take to the air

when they emerge from darkness?

I wrote a poem 40 years ago

that yes was a silly rhyming

flight in long ago light

but in the last 22 years

I’ve dipped and dodged

my smoke and cinder ending

showing a few lyrical moves

that a few have applauded

as most clowns like to do

to keep from showing

their inevitably

unscripted

demise
